Somatic Therapy

What is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy is a relational experiential therapy designed to foster present-moment body awareness. The process is aided by the therapist through the relational field. The client learns to develop their felt sense which means to feel sensations in the body, which allows them to access their physical and psychological needs. When we feel what is present without judgment, this soothes our nervous system and creates inner and outer connections.

We use guided meditations, breath work, grounding exercises, and authentic communication to help the client find safety in their nervous system, access a deeper level of meaning and purpose, and develop secure attachment in their relationships.

We discuss each "experiment" beforehand and you are ALWAYS in control. We can stop, slow down, or speed up at any time.

We work by regulating the window of tolerance, titration, resourcing, felt sense, focusing, authentic relating, parts work, and other methods.
